Marie Sender (France)
Marie holds a master’s degree in International Peace Studies from the United Nations-mandated University for Peace in Costa Rica. She also has a bachelor’s in business administration from Canada with a double focus in Economics and Sustainable Development. In 2017-2018, at the age of 22, she began her professional career working in the field of environmental protection in Montreal, merging peacekeeping and political actions to help counter the lack of resources to secure Protected Areas around the world.
Succeeding her graduation at UPEACE, Marie committed herself to the broader banner of positive peace, realizing, from a holistic perspective, the interdependence between all these problematics. In 2020-2021, she moved to South Italy to support the implementation of projects fostering the social inclusion of asylum seekers and refugees via training.
She worked on the updating of the C.R.T. SIPPABIO in 2019, adding new sections (mostly about Interventions), new real-life examples, and new case studies to help students grasp a better understanding of the field of Peace and Conflict Studies. She also participated in several workshops focused on conflict resolution as a facilitator or co-facilitator. Eventually, from 2021 to 2023, she developed this edited version of the C.R.T. SIPPABIO merging learning materials from diverse sources, creating a new structure, and eventually, re-designed the model’s diagram in association with Dr. Abdalla.
As of today, in 2023, she continues her work as a researcher in Peace and Conflict Studies with the In Peace Institute and is now focusing on her Ph.D. research proposal diving into the recent evolutions in the field of mediation.
